An opportunity for your hands to move freely and your mind to be still—or get lost in chisme as we’ll be making among others.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis workshop is a casual, communal session rather than a formal class, no experience required. You will learn how to set up the warp on your loom and basic weaving techniques.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eVarious up-cycled materials will be used, including silks and scraps from Cara's samples and studio. We will provide handmade wooden frame looms (yours to keep for an extra fee), warp thread and fabric scraps. She’s been an artist in residence with Modern Ancient Brown (DT), Pocoapoco (MX), Campo Garzón (UY) and Bolster Arts (NYC). Her work delves into ideas of identity, migration and belonging, reflecting her personal experiences and engaging with the community through interviews and workshops. She explores textiles' unique storytelling potential, preserving and reimagining memories through material transformation and creative blends of fabric and found materials.
